Pearl’s Department Stores (Chateaugay) is the name I have given to the stores which were run by Morris Pearl and later, after his death, his wife Doris (“Dot”) (Harris) Pearl. The original store in Chateaugay was owned by Paul I. Pearl and managed by his brother, Morris Pearl. After a falling out between the two brothers, Morris Pearl took over ownership of the Chateaugay store and later expanded to nearby Ellenburg Depot (NY) and Champlain (NY). Morris Pearl also took over the Pearl’s store in Hermon (NY).
